Solar PV Calculator — Own it or rent from PPC?

The only solar calculator in Greece that checks shading from neighbouring buildings. Enter your address and your electricity bill and compare three routes to solar independence.

PPC SolarSmart

PPC SolarSmart (the utility’s roof-rental scheme): a rooftop system with no upfront cost and a bill discount for 10 years — after that, the system is not yours.

Your own (net metering)

You buy the system, offset your production against your consumption and keep it for good.

With the Exoikonomo 2026 subsidy

Same as “Your own” but with a lower upfront cost through Exoikonomo (the national home-energy subsidy) — an estimate, as the programme opens in late 2026.

Where is your home?

Frequently asked questions

How do you calculate shading from neighbouring buildings?

We use building-height data around your roof to compute the shading horizon by hour and season, and combine it with the local solar irradiance data. The result is a range of production loss due to shading, which is always confirmed with a free site survey before the final quote.

Why compare PPC SolarSmart with owning my own solar system?

PPC SolarSmart (the utility’s roof-rental scheme) has no upfront cost but only gives you a bill discount for 10 years, and you never own the system. Your own solar system costs money upfront but pays for itself and then delivers a net benefit for decades. The calculator shows both scenarios side by side so you can decide with real numbers.

How accurate is the estimate?

The estimate is based on real solar irradiance data (PVGIS) and the building data available for your area. It is a reliable starting point — the final quote is always prepared after a free site survey by an engineer.
